Sholem has been a dynamic presence in Los Angeles for more than 60 years

Sholem fosters a humanistic approach to Jewish learning and culture, embracing diversity, and promoting social justice.

The Sholem Community is a secular and progressive Jewish educational, cultural, and social institution. Our Sunday school teaches Jewish history, culture, and ethics. We offer a secular bar/bat mitzvah program and observances of Jewish holidays.

What is a Secular Jew?

The Sholem Community stresses the historic, cultural, and ethical aspects of our tradition. We view our Jewish identity as one that is relevant to contemporary life and committed to justice, peace, and community responsibility. Read about our philosophy here.

IMMIGRANT FAMILIES TOGETHER

October 20@10:30

Casey Revkin Ryan is a West Coast representative of the volunteer network Immigrant Families Together, which is dedicated to reuniting families separated by the White House’s current policies. Their most urgent task is bonding parents out of detention. In the last 16 months, they have freed 84 immigrants (with bonds of $1500 to more than $80,000), most of whom are parents or caregivers who were then reunited with their kids. A vast web of volunteer efforts and donations then assist with everything from housing and transportation to legal representation and groceries, until their asylum case is adjudicated. Want to do something about the crisis at the border but don’t know where to start? Come meet Casey on Sunday October 20.
