UCLA Prof Emeritus Jack Rothman presents his new book about finding his family’s forgotten shtetl in the Ukraine, Searching for Butsnevits: A Shtetl Tale. Part autobiography, part social history, and part detective story, Jack pieces together clues to life of his family and the region, from the Czar through the Russian Revolution and Nazi invasion, up to the present day. He includes a harrowing firsthand depiction of a violent pogrom attack as witnessed by his older cousin Sally, who lived in Butsnevits as a child.
