Francisco Aviles Pino is an undocumented poet, essayist, researcher and organizer from Acapulco Guerrero, Mexico and raised in Anaheim, California. He is currently at UCLA and works as a youth coordinator for the Orange County Congregation Community Organization. He is also the community editor for ChispaOC.org.
Francisco currently runs Anaheim’s first community youth civic engagement curriculum in partnership with the Anaheim Union High School District, where he facilitates youth workshops on radical leadership, spoken word and critical thinking. Aviles is currently a undergraduate research fellow at UCLA’s Department of Chicana/o Studies and a Poetry Foundation’s Emerging Writers Fellow, where Francisco writes on complicating ideas and curriculums on youth leadership and educational civic engagement.
