We Were There: Surviving the Holocaust in Shanghai

Twin sisters Gitta Morris and Monika White were born in Shanghai’s
Hongkew District and lived in what became the Shanghai Jewish Ghetto.
They lived there for eight years, including the three years of WWII, during
which they were interned by the Japanese.
In their talks, they review their lives in the Ghetto and their memories and
experiences of loss, fear, hunger, and happy times. They also discuss their
move to the US and the lives they have built as adults.
