Sholem offers meaningful and culturally Jewish ways to mark life’s passages. Our life cycle events embrace intercultural, non-traditional, and intercultural families. Our ceremonies affirm human dignity, regardless of sexual orientation, religious, or ethnic backgrounds. Our life cycle events include:

  • Joyful baby-naming ceremonies (for girls and boys, biological and adopted). Included are readings, remarks from the parent(s), and the option to choose Jewish names relevant to the cultural backgrounds of the participants;
  • Thoughtful, creative, and non-theistic bar and bas mitsve programs;
  • Secular Jewish wedding and commitment observances
  • Funerals, memorials, and unveiling ceremonies.

For more life-cycle information, email: ritesofpassage@sholem.org.
